Working at DRSL

A Great Place To Work

DRSL is an award-winning company. We're proud of our achievements and we constantly work hard to make sure this organisation gives back to the employees it asks so much of. We want DRSL to go on being a great place to work.

DRSL has a lively and caring environment. We like to involve all our team members in important decisions that affect them, and operate an open style of communication.

The team at DRSL are dedicated to helping others find some resolution to their disputes. Although at times the job can be tough when dealing with clients or applicants who have had difficult experiences, the team’s collective sense of humour, resilience and empathy allow them to turn situations around, and feel rewarded by the outcomes they achieve.

Job Preview

From time to time we have vacancies for Reviewers, Mediators and Resolution Co-ordinators.

Our Resolution Co-ordinators are a diverse team of energetic and knowledgeable career administrators. They keep the business running by liaising with applicants and clients, and making all the arrangements for hearings and mediations. Despite coming from very different backgrounds, they all have a few things in common. They all have a sense of humour, want the best outcome for our clients, are resilient, care about he people they deal with and work hard.

Reviewers are qualified in law and are experienced at conducting quasi-judicial hearings. Generally a reviewer specialises in one area of law (e.g. accident compensation) and adjudicates disputes that have been lodged. The position involves reviewing written materials, case law, and legislation, conducting a hearing with all parties, and writing up a decision. The role is a bit narrower than general law practice, but well suited to a more paced lifestyle. We have a large number of part-time employees. Some of our reviewers also work as mediators.

Our Mediators are focused on fostering communication between parties to increase understanding and hopefully reach an outcome that is acceptable to all concerned. Our mediators are certified with the Arbitrators, Mediators Institute of NZ (AMINZ) or equivalent. Most of our mediators also conduct review hearings.

Working to support our mediators, reviewers and resolution co-ordinators, are the team of support and management staff. These include office, systems and financial administrators.
